I'm VERY excited to be bringing back my band from NYC to Pittsburgh for a summer tour! I've always made frequent trips back and forth from my hometown to my new home, but this is the first time I've been able to bring an entire group with me for almost a week. The Benny Benack Band will be somewhere every night, so find which one works for you and come by (or just be a groupie and come every night :P). These musicians are some of my best friends and some of the brightest, rising stars in jazz today - can't wait for you to hear them, Pittsburgh!

Excited to bring my trio to PA for the opening concert celebrating JazzPA's 2013 Jazz Festival! Joined by Raviv Markovitz (b) and Armand Hirsch (gtr), we'll be celebrating Pittsburgh's rich jazz tradition by honoring Pittsburgh greats of past, while looking ahead to Pittsburgh's bright future (*wink wink* *me*)...

The concert will be streamed online and the radio on WPSU (Penn State's NPR Station).

The day I return to Pittsburgh for Spring Break, I'm back at D'Imperio's with my trio. We'll be playing classic standards and I'll be singing as well.

Stan Kenton Centennial Concert #2 - Second concert in a two-concert series celebrating the orchestral jazz legacy of Stan Kenton.

Performing in a couple different groups in the Manhattan School of Music Chamber Concert. I'm singing on Elijah Shiffer's piece, as well as playing a tune w/my good friends from the band COLONY!

2 nights - outside of Jazz @ Lincoln Center's Allen Room in the Atrium, I'll be playing with trombone and composer extraordinaire, Javier Nero!

The Alex Sugerman Group returns to Tutuma Social Club! A stellar line-up including many of my friends who are also incredible musicians, I love playing with this group, check it out!

Jack Kleinsinger's "Highlights in Jazz" will be in it's 39th year, continuing as New York's longest running jazz concert series. I'm extremely privileged to be performing in one of this season's concerts being billed as "Next Generation Stars". Houston Person and Bucky Pizzarelli are also on the concert for the other half so it should be a magical night!

My MSM combo's first "Cafe Jazz" concert of the semester. Directed by Ted Rosenthal, the members including myself are Jake Goldbas, Sam Anning, Christian Sands, John Ragonese, Eric Miller and Frank Cohen. Should be killing!

Thrilled and privileged to be playing in the Mike Dease Big Band. Mike's a fantastic trombone player and his big band has some incredible musicians to boot!

I've been invited to join the faculty for the day as a guest artist at the wonderful Lagond Music School in Westchester, NY. I'll be working with and performing for some very talented students ranging from grade school to high school.

Excited to be the "Jazz Resident Advisor" for the 2012 jazz finalists of the NFAA/Youngarts program! An alum from a few years back, I know that Youngarts Week is truly an incredible experience and I'm excited to help the new batch of finalists have a memorable time like I did!

The second and final weekend of shows for the "Jazz Nutcracker" ballet featuring my father's mini-big-band and the Pittsburgh Ballet Company. If you're in Pittsburgh for the holidays you don't wanna miss this!

A revival of the "Jazz Nutcracker" ballet my father had performed in collaboration w/the Pittsburgh Ballet Company for a number of years in the early 00's. I'm excited to be joining the band for two weekends of shows, come hear your favorite Nutcracker music all jazzed up!

I'm excited and nervous to make my classical piano debut! After studying privately for years as a child, I picked piano back up this year and have been receiving private instruction from Ray Wong, a talented Doctoral student at MSM. Tonight is the recital for his students, and I'll be playing Gershwin's Prelude #1, and the Aria from Bach's Goldberg Variations!

The Alex Sugerman Group is back at Miles' Cafe for another late set of great music, if you missed our first gig here in September make it out for this one, it is an INCREDIBLE band!

I'm playing on Miho Hazama's piece as part of a Composer's Concert at the Manhattan School. Miho was a classical composer before getting into jazz, and her music reflects her classical background while giving jazz musicians creative space to roam. Should be a very engaging performance!

Playing w/Chris Massey and the Nue Jazz Project. This is one of the finest venues for live jazz in NYC, and Chris has an amazing band, honored to be playing some great music!

Performing the jazz ballet "Rooms" w/the MSM Chamber Jazz Ensemble in collaboration with the Limon Dance Company! The 5-piece "pit orchestra" is playing some wild music to accompany the dancers, and this show has only been performed a half dozen times since it's inception in 1955!

Performing as a finalist in the 2011 ITG Carmine Caruso Solo Jazz Trumpet Competition in the afternoon. The winners perform that evening in a concert w/the guest artist judges Randy Brecker, Dick Oatts & Conrad Herwig with the Missouri Jazz Orchestra.

The second leg of COLONY's tour starts in NYC on the 28th at Cornelia St. Cafe as part of a double-bill w/the O'Farrill Bros. Band. We'll then travel to Buffalo to play some gigs the first few days of July.

I'll be in Boise, Idaho this week playing in a jazz festival there w/the Boise Band! A group of friends from MSM that originated in Boise last year led by pianist Keelan Dimick.
